FRANCESCO TARANTINI – THE MEDICINE MAN EP - REMIXES & EDITS

After the success of Francesco Tarantini’s The Medicine Man EP on SSOH label, the young and impressive Italian revisits the six-track EP, hand-picking some of the brightest producers on the underground house scene to give each track a fresh breath of life.
From the dark and wonky Green Velvet-esque original, you couldn't get further from Aaron Und Pascal’s dreamy re-edit of Time To Wait. The pair keep the underlying funk but embed it into softly textured synth layers that cushion the melody into a hypnotic, almost lullaby state.
Blueday Stereo return from their own foray on SSOH imprint, Forever, to remix Circles. Releasing the track from its initial bass line heavy feel, they offer up a smooth, steady remix that gently but progressively develops in delicate momentum, slowly building up layers of vocal samples from the original for a beautifully simple yet deceptively complex edit.
The riotous, 70’s infused feel of La Disco is bought down a notch by The Deepshakerz, muting the heady tones of the original to produce a lounge version to suit the more subtler sets of deep disco house. On remix duty for Echoes, Berardino & Sonatore take the track away from its initial three-quarter beat, bringing it back round to 4x4, introducing lush, chugging bass elements and revitalizing organ chords for a grooving, funked-up edit.
With snare, brush and bongo drums from the start, Reegroove set about giving Downtown an intrinsically sensual, tribal touch. Percussive and snyth stabs build themselves around the vocal line, creating a moving, hip-shaking, sexually rhythmic groove. Finally Tarantini himself returns to the EP on It’s House. Still keeping that deep, squelching house sound, this time round he opts for a more percussive feel instead of the original’s funk-fuelled organ flavour. Losing none of the groove, depth or passion, Tarantini’s Re-Work is the perfect note to end things on.
